Topic of the Day: Did you watch the Oscars? If not, why?
TOPIC OF THE DAY
Are the Oscars losing its popularity? On Sunday, the academy awards suffered its lowest viewership in history. Only 26.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the Oscars. That’s a 20 percent drop from last year’s number of 33 million viewers.
Reasons for which could have led to this dramatic drop in viewers are the artistic films like were nominated for best picture, “The Shape of Water” and the drama “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri.”
Another possible reason is the many options now available to watch the program. Many millennials prefer to watch the highlights on social media rather than the entire program.
