Hotevilla man sentenced to 21 months in prison

A 43-year-old man by the name of Edgar Louis Rogers was arrested on Monday for assaulting a federal officer while on supervised release on another case. Rogers has been sentenced to 21 months in prison.

Rogers previously plead guilty to assaulting a federal officer and was sentenced to 18 months in prison in 2013.

U.S. District 6 Judge Murray Snow had an additional three months added to his sentence after violating his supervised release. The incident occurred when the victim, a law enforcement officer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, approached Rogers while he was present on the Hopi Reservation.

Rogers resisted the contact and a scuffle ensued, which resulted in an injury to the officer’s finger.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
