Topic of the Day: Young Americans take to capitol

As the country continues to mourn after losing 17 in yet another school shooting students in Parkland, Florida are making sure their friends deaths weren’t in vain. Dozens visited Florida’s capitol demanding to talk to lawmakers in hopes that they’ll join them in changing the state’s gun policies. Across the state thousands of other students have walked out of their schools to remember those lost and support the survivors.

More and more students converged on Tallahassee and already reports of lawmakers refusing to meet with them have been reported. During several press conferences the students asked for realistic changes such as more intense background checks which would make it harder for people with mental illnesses to get firearms.
