Fake Signs Spotted Welcoming ‘Felons, Illegals’ and Gangs to California’s ‘Sanctuary State’

Drivers making their way into California the first week of the new year were greeted by a fake sign that read, “Official Sanctuary State! Felons, Illegals and MS13 Welcome! Democrats Need The Votes!”

One of the signs was placed along the SB 15 Freeway at the California-Nevada border. There were reports of a sign at the California-Arizona border as well. Some sources are reporting that the signs have since been removed.

In October, California Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown signed sanctuary state legislation that extends protection for illegal immigrants. The bill went into affect on January 1st.

One story that made national headlines regarding sanctuary policies was the Kate Steinle murder, where an illegal immigrant who was deported five times allegedly fatally shot her. Prior to the murder the man was in jail for drug related charges. San Francisco authorities did not notify Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents request to notify them when he was released. They let him wander the streets even though he was in the U.S. illegally, where he confessed to later “accidentally” shooting Steinle. The jury in the case found him not guilty of murder, even though he confessed to pulling the trigger.
