Suspect involved in July attempted murder appeared in court Wednesday

One of the suspects involved in an attempted murder that happened in July appeared in court Wednesday afternoon.

Superior Court Judge Brandon Kinsey gave 20-year-old Anthony Serrano a 30-day continuance in his case.

Serrano is one of two suspects in the shooting of a 22-year-old Somerton man that happened back in July.

Serrano has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.

The other suspect is 20-year-old Martin Guzman.

Somerton Police found the victim upon responding to a traffic incident.

Officers learned the passenger, who was on his way to Yuma Regional Medical Center, in the vehicle was shot once moments before arriving at the scene.

Both suspects were taken into custody on July 27th at a residence in Somerton.

Serrano is expected to appear in court on December 6th at 8:30 a.m.
