President Trump sends fallen soldier’s family $25K check
The family of fallen soldier received a $25,000 check from President Donald Trump last week. It’s another promise the President has made that he has fulfilled.
Army Cpl. Dillon Baldridge was killed in June by an Afghan police officer. He was 22-years-old. His family plans to use the money to start a non-profit to help people in North Carolina. Eventually the foundation would help others around the country.
Jessie Balridge, a relative of the fallen soldier said, “It’s been hard. There’s been a lot of negativity and that’s really unfortunate because the whole goal in this pursuit is kindness.” The Washington Post had reported recently that President Trump did not follow through on his promise of mailing the check to his family. White House Spokeswoman Lindsay Walters told CNN Wednesday, “The check has been sent. It’s disgusting that the media is taking something that should be recognized as a generous and sincere gesture, made privately by the President, and using it to advance the media’s biased agenda.”
A letter with the check included this in the statement: “I hope this will make things a bit easier, but nothing will ever replace your son, Dillon. He was an American hero.”
