Tanker truck causes explosion leaving one seriously injured

The El Centro Fire Department responded to a tanker truck explosion that left one man seriously injured on Dogwood Avenue Wednesday morning.

Shortly around 10 a.m., a fire department truck was heading to the 2000 block of Dogwood Avenue when firefighters noticed smoke coming from KC Wielding located at 1549 block of Dogwood Avenue.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and discovered a large tanker truck used to carry flammable liquids was being repaired when the explosion happened.

One person was injured during the incident and was transported by REACH Air Medical Services to a nearby hospital in Palm Springs, Calif.

Firefighters worked quickly by evacuating the area and securing the truck involved.

The incident lasted around two hours.
