Tucson Sector Border Patrol agent detained on lewd act charges with minor

A Border Patrol agent was arrested after being accused of committing lewd acts with a minor in California.

Kyle Mrofka, a 29-year-old Supervisory Agent stationed in Ajo, Ariz., was arrested on Sept. 29th and is being detained without bond at the Pima County Jail as he awaits extradition to Imperial County.

The victim was a 14-year-old girl and incident happened at the Picacho State Recreation Area, about 25 miles from Yuma.

According to AlumniClass.com, Mrofka is a 2006 graduate of Cibola High School in Yuma.

Mrofka faces two counts of lewd acts with a minor that was filed by the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office. The charges were filed in 2013.

“I’m surprised he’s not here yet but he is still in custody with Pima County,” said Sgt. Chad Higginbotham with the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office.

Mrofka has worked with the Border Patrol for nine years and has been indefinitely suspended without pay pending investigation.

He is scheduled for a review hearing on Nov. 2nd.
