Travelers warned of ongoing San Luis Port of Entry construction

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) will begin construction for a new pedestrian walkway at the San Luis I Land Port of Entry (LPOE) starting this Wednesday and Nov. 1st.

There will be minor changes to vehicle and pedestrian routes exiting the port. Road signs will be set to warn travelers to reduce speeds and guide the traveling public.

To accommodate construction for the new pedestrian processing annex, GSA will be closing one of the three vehicle exit lanes to Main Street at the port. All vehicle lanes will reopen once construction finishes.

The easternmost exit lane to Main Street will be closed just beyond the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) primary inspection booths.

Construction for this area will begin Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 11 a.m. and will go through Fall 2018.

GSA will also redirect pedestrians proceeding northbound through the San Luis I LPOE, after the primary inspection area , onto a walkway along Main Street. Signs will direct pedestrians onto the walkway. The pedestrian walkway will reopen at the completion of construction.

Construction for this area will begin Wednesday, Nov. 1st at 6 a.m. through Fall 2018.
