Protesters and Supporters share their message to President Trump

Nearly one thousand supporters and protesters waited across the Marine Corps Air Station for President Trump to arrive.

“I’ve always wanted to come and support the President but he’s too far away,” said Walter, a Trump supporter.

Like many supporters and protesters, they all had a message to share with the President.

A Trump protestor says, “If Donald Trump loves America, he needs to love ALL of America,”

For Leon Williams, a proud supporter of the President says he’s already accomplished a lot in his presidency,

“The main thing is to encourage him to make some great decisions that he’s already made. One of them is reducing out the national debt of over 100 billion dollars.”

A hot topic during the President’s visit was his plans for the U.S./Mexico Border Wall in Yuma County. Both sides showing their support and oppositions to his actions.

Tina Ashley, in favor of Trump, says she hopes Trump remains focused on the border issues Americans are concerned about.

“I want him to see the issues we face with the ‘illegals’ and he’ll take care of it and get the wall built, and then work on the rest.”

Yuma resident Edward Snook disagrees with Trump’s plans for the border wall. He says it will do more “harm” than “good” for our country.

“Even the Border Patrol says we should spend money on electronic surveillance.A 30-foot wall would be counterproductive for our Border Patrol’s security let alone the symbolic of what we represent to the world.”

At the end of the day, the gathering of locals remained peaceful until President Trump landed. Trump supporter Coordinator for Yuma Ken Darby says he extremely proud of both sides of the aisle expressing their “right” as an American.

“Everybody is being heard, and this is what it’s all about. We, Yuma, Arizona have just set the standard for what political discourse and debate should be.This is beautiful.”
