Local Homeless shelter running low in donations

Crossroads Mission is looking for more donations as they work to feed more people over the Summer. In July of last year they provided 12,000 meals to those in need. This July they have increased meals by 1,000 and are now providing lunch as well as breakfast and dinner.

Since the closing of Salvation Army in Yuma the Crossroads Mission has stepped in to help those in need that would go to the Salvation Army.

The Crossroads Mission offers water sites and cooling sites throughout the valley. They also provide showers to those in need. Making sure 150 people or more get to shower daily.

As the Summer heat hits, Barbara Rochester the Community Affairs Director says they are in great need of help.

“We need water, protein, snacks, fruit and toiletries,” said Rochester. She says they are also in need of toiletries and towels.

If you would like to help donate you can drop off donations to the Crossroads Mission at any time of the day at 944 South Arizona Avenue.

Donations are also accepted at the Thrift Store. Please help us keep our costs down by ensuring that all donated items are in safe, working condition. If you would not use it yourself because it is too old, worn out, it has big stains, or is broken, then we most likely won’t be able to use it either. Crossroads Mission doesn’t have staff to repair damaged items and we don’t always have volunteers that know about repairs. As a result, things that are broken or damaged end up in the trash.
