San Luis Police Chief Placed On AdministrativeLeave

San Luis Police Chief Craig Higgins has been placed on paid administrative leave, though further details have not been released.

San Luis City Manager Tadeo Azael De La Hoya has confirmed that Higgin’s was placed on administrative leave by him on Monday. However, he declined to release any further information except that, “Craig Higgins employment is being considered by City Council.”

Higgins has been serving as the City of San Luis Police Chief since he was formally appointed in February 2016. He had been appointed to the position after working in managing administrative and operational activities across federal, state, local, and military environments.

The City Manager also adds that Chief Higgins is not being investigated. According to the City of San Luis Council records back in February 2017, Chief Higgins had to obtain a peace officer certification to keep his job. He completed those classes May 17, 2017. A condition that was placed on him to renew his contract that was extended to May 31st, 2017.
