Local law enforcement takes part in drunk driving PSA

Today local law enforcement from across the desert southwest came together to do a public service announcement targeted at drunk driving. YCSO, YPD, Somerton and San Luis PD were all in attendance. Sergeant Lori Franklin of YPD, gives us some Yuma drunk driving statistics as well as explains why they felt they the need to create this PSA. “Yuma Police Department for the year 2016, we had a total of 246 DUI’s, 113 of them were accident related. I mean that’s a lot of accidents caused by people drinking and driving and if putting together this PSA, coming together as a community can help stop that, you know we’re all for it,” said Franklin. Local law enforcement wants to get the message out that this is a serious issue not to be taken lightly and while summer is approaching, YPD and others will be on high alert this coming season. The PSA is set to air in early June.
