Remembering Hank
According to those that knew Henry “Hank” Schechert he visited the Yuma area in the 1940’s and enjoyed his stay; so much so that he returned in the 1960’s with a dream of developing the desert area east of Yuma. Many were said to have doubted that the area could become anything but desert; half a century later his dream has exceeded anyone’s expectations. This Saturday, we pay tribute to Schechert with a parade and barbecue; the parade starts at ten in the morning on the corner of 47th Street and Foothills Boulevard and then heads north onto South Frontage Road. Everyone’s invited to the barbecue and car show after the parade.
