Man dies in suspected DUI crash
A 21-year-old man from Holtville suspected of driving under the influence was arrested after car crash that killed his passenger.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers say the incident happened Saturday at around 3:15 a.m. on Highway 111 just north of McCabe Road.
The man lost control of the steering wheel causing his car to head into on-coming traffic and crashing into a car heading in the opposite direction.
The man only suffered moderate injuries. However, his passenger, a 29-year-old man from Calexico, died from the impact, according to a collision report issued by CHP.
The driver and passenger in the other car only suffered moderate injuries and were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
Officers say they are still trying to determine if the man was under the influence during the crash.
