USBP seize 21 pounds of meth at checkpoint

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a man who allegedly tried to smuggle 21 pounds of methamphetamine past an inspection checkpoint.

Agents say the 31-year-old man drove up to the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton City Tuesday afternoon. The man was sent to secondary inspection when a K-9 officer alerted the car.

During the inspection, agents say, they found 11 plastic-wrapped bundles of meth hidden in the frame of the car.

The meth could have been sold for more than $84,000 in the streets, according to agents.

The man, who is a U.S. citizen, along with the car he was in and the drugs seized were all turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration to be investigated.
