Topic of the Day: Cities banning mass deportations

13 On Your Side wants to know your thoughts:

The City of Tucson has joined 37 other cities in passing resolutions pledging they will not take part in any mass deportations. The decision was made during the Tucson City Council meeting earlier this week, where the resolution received a unanimous vote.

The move comes just before President-elect Donald Trump is set to take office; during his campaign Trump promised to deport nearly 11-million undocumented immigrants believed to be in the U.S. President-elect Trump went as far as condemning any city who failed to comply.

Trump threatened any municipality who failed to comply with sanctions that would take away federal funding. Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild responded to the threat by saying, “If in the future, and we are not predicting the future.

If in the future we are faced with unconstitutional federal law. I have no doubt we will challenge it in the courts. There are limits to federal power and if necessary we will litigate to enforce those limits,”.
