As the year comes to an end many companies are still seeing the same old trends when it comes to employees using their paid vacation days. According to several studies employees have reported being discouraged by their employers, some say they just have too much work and others think they can climb the corporate ladder faster if they refuse to take vacations.
But, a study by Project: Time Off showed that employees using their paid time off benefited both the worker and the employer. According to their findings employees who failed to take a break from work risked burning out which in turn affected productivity.
Many companies pay for unused vacation time which can become costly. Their advice is for employees to take a break and give their brain a chance to relax and for employers to push for their workers to call a time out and recharge their batteries.
