City expects heavier traffic with new street construction changes
City of Yuma officials announced there will be changes in street construction projects, that will go into effect immediately.
According to Yuma’s Public Affairs Coordinator, Dave Nash, these projects have extended through Castle Dome Road and have also closed some regions throughout 1st Avenue.
But Nash said he encourages people to avoid the developing traffic by taking certain detours.
Although people are expected to find alternate routes, some routes might lead them to certain residential areas.
For that reason, Nash said people must be mindful of the speed limits enforced throughout local neighborhoods.
“We do caution those of you [going through] the residential areas with the 25 MPH speed limit – There could be children playing, could be pets running out from behind parked cars,” Nash said. “Just keep that in mind, be courteous – Think about what it would be like if there were people speeding down your block.”
Nash also said he advises people to be patient on the road, especially as the holidays near. “We’re all just trying to get where we’re going,” Nash said. “So a little bit of patience take in some deep breaths counting to ten – Whatever your mechanism is, do it. Remember everybody else is in the same boat that you’re in.”
