Arizona designating no-tolerance highway ‘safety corridors’

Arizona will designate four stretches of major highways as safety corridors where authorities say there will be zero tolerance for traffic violations.

The Transportation and Public Safety departments and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety says designations of the four safety corridors are aimed at reducing crashes, severe injuries and traffic fatalities.

Signs for the first two corridors go up this month, both along stretches of Interstate 10. One is between the I-17 “Stack” interchange and the “Mini-Stack” interchange with State Route 51 and Loop 202. The other is between the Loop 202 and State Route 187.

Signs for two more go up in January. One covers U.S. 60 between the Loop 202 and the Loop 101. The other is along Interstate 40 between Kingman and U.S. 93.
