Agents find drugs inside car’s battery
U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a man after they found methamphetamine and marijuana hidden inside the battery of the car he was driving.
Agents say the 27-year-old man drove up to the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton City, when a K-9 officer alerted the car. During an inspection of the car, agents found three bundles of drugs inside the car’s battery.
Two of the bundles were meth, the other was marijuana.
“Criminal organizations will go to great lengths in order to carry out their illegal activities,” said Chief Patrol Agent Rodney S. Scott.
Agents say the 4.53 pounds of drugs seized, could have sold for almost $50,000 in the streets.
The man, the car and drugs were all turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
