“Sock Drive” collects socks in need

Socks are the least donated but highly wanted in shelters.

During the Holiday season, groups around the community collect the necessities for families in need.Yuma Footcare is holding their annual “Sock Drive” collecting socks for local missionaries. Dr. Jessica Duggan is looking to break record this holiday season.

“This year we decided to match every single pair that is donated we will match, so we’re really excited about that, they’re all donated to our local mission so they distribute those and they see fit.”

As temperatures drop outside, keeping your feet warm prevents catching illnesses.

“A population we have in Yuma is a diabetic population, that’s a very common condition that many our patients have here at Yuma Foot Care and it’s important for people with diabetes to keep your feet protected and dry and not to walk around barefoot in these cold temperatures where the skin can get really cold and frigid and dry and cracked. Wearing dry socks is something that can help cushion the feet and protect the feet from problems.”

You do not have to be a patient to participate and can drop off donations at the Yuma Footcare until the end of the month.
