Elementary school holds career day over zoom
Over 20 presents participate in educational event
EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Washington Elementary School (WES) held a virtual career day at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, featuring 24 presenters from the community.
"We had the entire student population, staff and presenters in one zoom room for our annual Career Day," expressed WES principal Joan Hanson. "Thank you to Mr. Romayor who assured we had a license to host the event!"
Teachers assigned all students in waiting rooms to break-out rooms before they were admitted, advising pupils to work on their assignments. Students who were unable to join a room stayed in the main room, with about 60 students, who then had the same amount of presenters in the main room.
School administration monitored rooms throughout the event, and adjusted rooms accordingly if glitches occurred.
"This entire career day format allowed students to view presenters from various backgrounds, and have rich conversations upon returning to class," Hanson commented. "We did have a Plan B set, if we needed to send presenters to individual rooms, but we were able to make it work with Plan A!"
Presenters remained in each virtual room for about 25 minutes before all returned to the main room. They then had an opportunity to network afterwards using the Remo platform.
