Expect Congresswoman Barbara Lee to announce run against Feinstein soon
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Look out for Congresswoman Barbara Lee entering the race for Dianne Feinstein's senate seat. Lee has traditionally been known as an establishment figure in congress. But she has key differences with the other mainstream dem in the race, Adam Schiff.
On foreign policy Lee has been unusually anti-hawkish. Lee was the only single member of congress voting against the allowance of the use of force in the wake of the September 11 attacks. She's consistently voted against a troop surge in Afghanistan and Iraq, making her more of an independent figure.
But a new poll has lee in a distant third. assuming Feinstein chooses not to run, David Binder Research has Congresswoman Katie Porter and Adam Schiff as the candidates to beat, garnering 30 and 29% respectively. Lee is at 9%, with a generic republican getting the same numbers and Ro Khanna, a congressman with an anti-establishment libertarian bend, is at the back of the pack with 6%.
Expect Lee to announce as soon as the storm dies down. Schiff has been making subtle digs at Porter, implying that her announcement during the dangerous CA storms is in poor taste.Â
