The suit follows Monday's certification of the results

(KYMA) - Former Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake filed a lawsuit Friday night over the handling of the midterm election.

The lawsuit comes after the certification of Arizona's election results on Monday.

Named as defendants in the case are Governor-Elect Katie Hobbs, Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, and the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.

In the lawsuit Lake claims there were "Thousands of illegal votes cast" and that faulty tabulator machines made those in line to vote leave.

Ultimately she asks the Arizona Superior Court to set aside the certified results of the 2022 election and declare her the winner.

Meanwhile, Katie Hobbs's campaign manager released a statement which begins by saying "Kari lake needs attention like a fish needs water,"

Also adding "Arizonans made their voices heard and elected Katie Hobbs as their governor. No nuisance lawsuit will change that."

Hobbs's margin of victory was just over 17,000 votes.
