San Luis City Council candidates addressing voters one last time

13 On Your Side's Vanessa Gongora spoke with some of the candidates about the election and why they should be elected

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The six candidates that are running for San Luis City Council hoping to win one of the three spots, had booths set up along the voting center located at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center.

Their goal was to make voters aware of the change they want to bring before they cast their final vote.

Some of the candidates stated it was a smooth and steady morning, but as time went on, the parking lot started to fill up.

Candidate Lizeth Servin says she's happy with the traffic coming in but that doesn't mean the campaign is over.

"When it comes to politics it's never enough. You have to keep working until the last day," Servin says. "The last minute, the last hour so yeah we're gonna be here till seven."

Servin said if elected, she wants to work directly with the community.

"One of the things that I really want to do is promote voting. I mean, we can see in this election that not a lot of people come out to vote," continues Servin. "We have more than 50,000 registered voters in San Luis and roughly 2,000-2,700 come out to vote when it's election time."

Tadeo De La Hoya, also running for for San Luis City Council says he feels good about the election. He's been serving the community for over 20 years and says he wants to continue his service.

"By being involved. Not just running for city council but also local non-profits, the school board and you know, trying to be and having a better community in what we're going to leave behind for future generations," explains De La Hoya.

Candidate Javier Vargas believes he did everything he could to promote himself up to this point and says it's important to represent the community because his family lives in San Luis.

"So it's very important for me to provide my family with a very safe place to live," states Vargas.
