Over $32.3 million in safe drinking water funds coming to Arizona

MGN

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - $32,359,000 will be invested in projects and initiatives, improving safe drinking water across Arizona.

Accordingly, in a press release, this comes from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law.

Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF)

Markedly, this historic investment was delivered to Arizona through the EPA's Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) program.

For the most part, DWSRF is a financial assistance program to help water systems and states protect the public health of local communities.

“Every Arizonan deserves access to clean, safe drinking water. This latest investment from our bipartisan infrastructure law funds projects updating and improving public water systems – protecting public health across our state and ensuring Arizona communities can continue to thrive without fear of contaminated water,” said Senator Kyrsten Sinema, co-author and lead negotiator of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law.

“Thanks to our work to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, more Arizona communities will have the resources needed to upgrade critical water infrastructure during this historic drought. We’ll keep working with local leaders to ensure that Arizona communities have the tools needed to secure our state’s water future,” said Senator Mark Kelly.

Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law

Furthermore, the bipartisan law as mentioned makes the strongest investment in clean drinking water.

Not only that, the law makes the strongest investment in wastewater management.

With these purposes in mind, the bipartisan law can deliver clean water to millions of American families.

In addition, more than $8 million will be used to strengthen water infrastructure across the American West.

Strengthening water infrastructure

The water infrastructure that need strengthening includes:

  • Aging infrastructure
  • Water storage
  • Water recycling
  • Drought contingency plans
  • Dam safety

Furthermore, in 2022 alone, Arizona recieved $109 million in funding from the EPA, addressing clean and drinking water systems.

Likewise, this funding will update wastewater infrastructure and help clean up water contaminates like PFSA.
