Arizona Governor to focus on rural areas
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Governor Doug Ducey was in Yuma to present his State of the State address tailored for Yuma County Tuesday.
The Governor touched on a range of topics, including water, education, and veterans. Governor Ducey promised to give rural areas the vital attention they need.
Governor Ducey said that he realizes there are needs outside of Maricopa County.
He said Yuma County is a prime example for water innovation and it should be recognized throughout the country. He credited many local leaders for the passage of the drought contingency plan (DCP).
“You are served with some great elected leaders and the DCP, the most comprehensive water policy in Arizona in the last 40 years would’ve not happened without their involvement,” said Governor Ducey.
The Governor said the State will continue to focus on the issue in a strategic way. He added Arizona will protect the Colorado River, Lake Mead, and agriculture jobs.
