A mouth guard that changes color warns of heat stroke
(KYMA, KECY/CNN) - A Washington DC area dentist invented a mouth guard for athletes that automatically changes color when oral temperature reaches 102 degrees.
That's a key temperature where you start to worry about heat stroke.
It's called the thermo-pact mouth shield and right now, it's only sold online.
The mouth guard development was funded by a foundation started by the family of Jordan McNair.
He's a 19-year-old University of Maryland football player who died from a heat stroke after a team workout four years ago.
