U.S. carries out two hypersonic missile tests
(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - After some initial failures, the Pentagon has carried out successful tests of hypersonic missiles.
The Air Force has now conducted two successful back-to-back tests of its air-launched missiles that reached hypersonic speeds.
Meanwhile, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency also tested a ground-based system.
DARPA has a hypersonic boost-glide system that can be launched from a standard military truck.
The U.S. military is making an effort to catch up to Chinese and Russian hypersonic missile capabilities. Russia recently became the first nation ever to use hypersonic weapons in its war on Ukraine.
