Tension in America increases as the nation’s birthday is celebrated
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - As families gather to celebrate the birthday of the Land of the Free, there is great division in America caused by the current political climate.
The controversial topics at hand deal with issues including abortion rights and the new changes the federal government has made since its Roe V. Wade ruling.
The Associated Press conducted a poll in which adults were to choose five issues they would like the government to address.
Among the responses, twenty-two percent of American adults chose abortion or women's rights as one of their answers.
With midterm elections nearby and the increase in outspoken support for women's rights, Joe Biden and other Democrats seek to benefit from the current shift.
Immediately after the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said “reproductive freedom is on the ballot in November.”
Biden virtually met with Democratic governors and discussed reproductive rights.
Kamala Harris spoke at a festival on Saturday in New Orleans and highlighted the impact the Supreme Court will cause on low-income women.
