Supreme Court decision changes ruling on Roe v Wade - News 11's Samantha Byrd reports

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Supreme Court on Friday ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade and the fundamental right to abortion for women across America that has been the law for almost 50 years.

The court ruled 6-3, in an opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito, which now leaves the decision up to each state.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey signed a bill this legislative session that makes it a crime for a doctor to perform an abortion after 15 weeks of gestation, with exceptions for the health of the mother.

That law will go into effect 90 days after the current session closes, which could happen at any time now that lawmakers have completed the state budget.

Planned Parenthood says it stopped all abortion services as of the decision made this morning and now patients will have to travel out of state.
