Local non-profit fundraises at Yuma County Fair
Homeward Bound Animal Rescue gained their non-profit status a year ago, and is making their fair debut
YUMA, Ariz. (KECY, KYMA) - At the 70th annual Yuma County Fair, one local non-profit is making its debut.
Homeward Bound Animal Rescue is a new non-profit in Yuma.
This is their first time at the fair and their display is in the theater building at the fairgrounds.
The organization helps rescue animals and prepares them for adoption in the community through foster families.
Director Megan Springer says not all animals, especially ones that come to them sick or injured, can be cared for in a foster home.
“We’re looking to raise money in that way to build a shelter to get us enough money to build a small fall-back shelter for our animals," Springer said.
So far Homeward Bound has raised $2,000 from the community and local businesses.
Their goal is to reach $20,000
You can donate toward their shelter at the fair or on their website.
