Friends and family remember Rudy Geronimo
Geronimo remembered for his love of life and his community
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Rudy was all about his family, his country, and his community, that's how Sharon Casas described Rudy Geronimo. Geronimo spent most of his life in the Desert Southwest.
Originally from Wellton, Geronimo graduated from Antelope High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps. and fought during Desert Storm.
Geronimo's friends and family say that he's a Yuma as it gets. Geronimo loved the outdoors and took full advantage of our desert playground.
On any given weekend Geronimo would take his family out shooting or enjoying the dunes. He was an avid racer and loved to ride his motorcycle.
He encouraged his children to be heavily involved in their community, some of them were Cub Scouts. Geronimo is described as being a fighter, so the news of his passing after battling COVID-19, was heartbreaking.
With mounting medical bills, his friends came together to raise money for the Geronimo family. The Casas family among others coordinated a motorcycle run in 2021 to raise funds.
Thanks to the support of companies like Bobby's Territorial Harley Davidson and The Kress Lounge they were able to help. A year after his passing, his friends and family want to continue the memorial run, this time donating the money to Yuma's youth.
So, on Saturday, March 26, riders and drivers alike are invited to join Geronimo's friends and family at Bobby's Territorial Harley Davidson (2550 Gila Ridge Rd.) at 10:30 a.m. Riders will visit spots throughout Yuma County and conclude the run at The Kress Lounge in Downtown Yuma.
At the conclusion of the run, the group will be holding a raffle and will be giving out prizes. Proceeds from the run will go to help local youth organizations
