Uhaul: Smokers need not apply
Company implements nicotine-free policy
PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - U-Haul International will stop interviewing and hiring anyone who uses nicotine products, including e-cigarettes and vaping products.
The truck and trailer rental company's new nicotine-free policy will go into effect February 1 in all 21 states where it operates.
Employees hired before the policy takes effect will not lose their jobs.
U-Haul executives expect the change to create a more healthy corporate culture.
The company currently employs some 30,000 people across the United States and Canada.
