National Guard helicopter rescues Arizona hiker from mountains

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - Military video shows the National Guard using a Black Hawk helicopter to rescue a hiker in Arizona.

Because the hiker was trapped high in the Superstition Mountains, the pilot had to make a complex landing on a ridge 5,000 feet high using just two of the helicopter's three wheels.

The hiker was unable to get down the mountain due to a back injury but made it to the helicopter.

Local police tried to make the rescue before calling in the National Guard.

The winds were too high for their aircraft to land safely.

A guardsmen says the two-wheel landing is more stressful than usual but one they practice routinely.
