YCSO: One dead in rollover, alcohol appears to be a factor

One person is dead and two people were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center after a single vehicle rollover in the desert area a quarter mile south of Avenue 12E and east of Highway 95 near the railroad tracks, according to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.

YCSO said an orange 2016 Polaris Razor UTV was traveling northbound on a dirt road next to the railroad tracks when the driver lost control of the UTV causing it to roll several times.

The YCSO Critical Accident Response Team responded to the scene and said the driver of the UTV, David Tansey Jr, 41, of Yuma, sustained non-life threatening injuries, and the front passenger, Erin Daily, 34, of Yuma, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Both the driver and front passenger were transported to YRMC.

However, YCSO said the rear passenger, Daniel Durham, 40, of Yuma, was pronounced deceased at the scene and a next of kin notification has been made.

This case is pending further investigation and YCSO says alcohol appears to be a contributing factor.
