Students past and present celebrate 20-year anniversary at Centennial Middle School

Saturday morning, a local middle school in Yuma was partying like it’s 1999.

Centennial Middle School celebrated its 20th anniversary since the school opened. Students from the past and present participated in a one-mile color run and opened a time capsule from two decades ago.

Centennial Middle School teacher, Angela Rico said it’s a chance to see how much the school has grown.

“The students have gone on and done some great and amazing things. And we want to celebrate that. We want to bring everybody back together and just have a good time with everybody. So that they can see where we’re all at and where we use to be,” said Rico.

The school buried a new time capsule that won’t be opened till the year 2039.
