Suspect who ransacked motel room found wearing victim’s mother’s clothing
A family enjoying a night out for dinner were in for a surprise when they came back to their hotel room to find it ransacked with the alleged burglar asleep in one of their beds, wearing their clothing, according to El Centro Police.
33-year old Diego Daniel Mendez Avila broke into the room last night while the family was away, Police said.
Avila allegedly ate all the food and was wearing women’s clothing that belonged to the victim’s mother.
“The arrival of the parties woke him up. He attempted to flee and in the process was detained by the people returning to the room,” said Commander Aaron Reel of the El Centro Police Department.
Avila was arrested and booked at the Imperial County Jail on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.
