Cibola High recieves grant money for library

Cibola High School has reason to celebrate as it just received a grant to help better their school library.

Cibola High School will receive $1500 to go towards their literacy program at their library. It was the Dollar General Literacy Foundation that donated the funds, an organization that has awarded more than $159 million dollars to support literacy and learning programs around the country. The grant was applied for by Cibola’s librarian Amanda Coltman who has worked for the school for four years. Amanda explains why grants like these are so vital for libraries across the nation.

“Libraries don’t always have a lot of funding. Not just public, but schools as well, so it’s really important that we go out there and try to apply for grants to try to increase our students ability to read and foster their love of learning and reading,” said Coltman.

Seven schools in Arizona were awarded the grant this year with Yuma High winning the grant last year. For more information on how to apply for such a grant you can head to https://www.dgliteracy.org
