Gila Ridge student publishes book “Letters to my Master”
Daisy Baker, a junior at Gila Ridge High School, has officially published her first book “Letters to my Master.”
The book was published on August 26 and i t is available on Amazon in digital format and paperback.
Amazon described Baker’s work as exploring the twisted love of an abuser and victim, of a love so twisted and obsessive it leaves the reader wondering just how much one person will pay for the approval of their idol. How much can one person give? How much can they bear before they break, and when they do break, can they ever be put back together?
“I want this one to make an impact, I really want a lot of people to read it just so we can raise awareness and just kind of understand more because I feel like in society a lot of the time victims are blamed and it’s not always their fault. Yes they make a conscious decision to stay but often times their decision is made by a lot of other factors that people don’t understand, ” said Baker.
Baker hopes to use her platform to become an advocate for healthy relationships and for those suffering from mental illnesses and substance abuse.
“I feel like sometimes the media will address it but it’s very heavily censored and I didn’t censor myself really at all in the writing of this book and I realized that was going to be controversial but at the same time.. sometimes you need a completely uncensored look at something to see what it really is,” said Baker.
