Firefighters keep home from becoming a total loss in house fire

Shortly after 4 A.M. Sunday morning, Rural Metro received a call pertaining to a house fire near Payson Dr. and Flagstaff Ave.

According to Charly McMurdie with Rural Metro, the homeowner had heard a loud pop and woke up to smoke in her home.

When firefighters arrived, the garage had been engulfed with smoke coming out of the windows.

Though the home underwent damage, it is not a total loss.

The resident evacuated the home and there were no reported injuries.

The resident was offered Red Cross services by Rural Metro.

There were three cats in the home one of which was given oxygen by a firefighter and will recover, one cat is loose somewhere in the neighborhood.
