Escaped prisoner and accomplice located and taken into custody in Brawley
At about 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday September 20, Imperial County Sheriff’s Office notified Brawley Police Department of a prisoner at-large within the city of Brawley.
According to Brawley PD, with help from law enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security’s specialized Homeland Security Investigations unit, a number of leads resulted in the completion of a search warrant at a home on the 500 block of Poe Court.
Brawley PD’s press release says that Jacob Roman Mariscal, the 24-year-old prison escapee and Laura Arreola his 29-year-old girlfriend and accomplice, were located in the residence and taken into custody.
The press release also states that along with the criminal charges Mariscal is facing related to his escape from custody, Arreola is facing charges of aiding and abetting an escapee prisoner.
Both subjects have been booked into the Imperial County Jail.
