Yuma taxi driver robbed at gunpoint
A Yuma taxi driver claims she was robbed at gunpoint Friday morning.
“He says ‘Okay, could you please help me with my bags? I have a lot of bags that I need to put in the trunk.’ I said, ‘Okay, give me a moment.’ I step out my vehicle, walk towards the back and he’s right there holding a shotgun, a double barrel shotgun,” said Dana.
The suspect is described as tall, broad-shouldered, with a tattoo on his face. He is said to have been wearing a red bandana over his face during the robbery, according to Matthew Garrison, the victim’s husband.
Dana made it out unharmed.
“Get in your car and you go and don’t look back. I got in my car. I drove around, it was just a little semi-circle, got back onto 8th,” said Dana
The Yuma Police Department did confirm that the incident happened and that they are actively searching for the suspect involved in the robbery.
Dana is still shaken up by the incident and said what happened hit her when she woke her children up for school.
“They could not have their mother. I could not be here and be able to still be a part of their lives and be a wife. That’s what’s really hard. Just knowing that it was that close. I got really lucky, really lucky,” said Dana.
This story is still developing.
