Collision puts driver in hospital with serious injuries

According to Yuma Police Department, early Saturday morning, a red Jeep Cherokee veered off of the road and hit the concrete barrier to the canal bridge, then rolled and slid, landing on its roof.

The Jeep was traveling southbound in the 2400 block of Avenue 9E at about 3:15 Saturday morning.

The driver, a 29-year-old male was taken to Yuma regional medical center and later flown to a Phoenix hospital in serious condition.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be a factor in this accident but is still being investigated.
