New billboard says “Not your mom, not your milk” in Spanish
A new billboard in Yuma says “¿No es tu mamá? ¡No es tu leche!” debuted on Monday.
“Not your mom? Not your milk!” is the direct translation into English.
PETA Latino is behind the billboard an said it is aimed at the Latino community. They claimed the dairy industry is targeting Latinos.
“The dairy industry is targeting Latinos. We think that’s irresponsible. We know also, people know that drink[ing] milk from a cow is not healthy. It’s not natural,” said Gabriel Ochoa, PETA Latino communication specialist.
PETA Latino claimed the proof lies in a 2010 report from the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy.
Jose Luis Elias, retired cattleman, disagreed.
“Where people come [up] that it’s bad for you, I don’t know. But, everybody’s allergic to certain things. But no, I can’t bad mouth milk,” said Elias.
This is one of four billboards in the U.S. that displays the message.
PETA Latino said it will only be up for a month.
