Wallethub: Arizona ranks fourth worst state for women’s equality

While women make up 50 percent of the population, some say it’s still difficult for women to break the glass ceiling in the workforce.

In 2017, the United States didn’t make the top 10 list of the World Economic Forum’s ranking of 144 countries based on gender equality.

A new Wallethub study analyzes where women receive the most equal treatment in the U.S.

Arizona ranked the fourth worst state for women’s equality, according to the study.

Researchers studied several key metrics and compared all 50 states to determine the rankings. It includes looking at the gap between male and female executives and the gap in unemployment.

Arizona scored 38.76 points, ranking it 47th in the nation for women’s equality.

New York received the highest score with 68.66. California landed in the top 15.

When considering the executive positions gap, Arizona ranked 18th. For the unemployment gap, Arizona ranked 50th.
