Authorities investigating Seeley murder-suicide
Two people are dead in a small town and authorities are looking for a motive.
Imperial County Sheriff’s Office said two people died in Seeley on Wednesday night. A 24-year-old woman died from multiple stab wounds, and a 27-year-old man reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot. Authorities believe they were married at the time. They are investigating this as a murder-homicide but foul play has not been completely ruled out.
Deputies did not find any signs of an altercation in the mobile home the couple shared on the 1700 block of Rio Vista in Seeley that belonged to a relative.
The couple was originally from Mexicali before moving to the area several years prior. They leave behind two children who are now being taken care of by the extended family.
I.C.S.O. Lt. Jimmy Duran said the investigation is ongoing.
“Multiple stab wounds on the female and a gunshot wound on the male. At this point, we’re still trying to confirm what exactly happened. We are investigating it as a murder-suicide and that’s because all the evidence points in that direction,” Duran said.
Duran said the couple had no previous criminal records.
