Yuma Catholic Football paying it forward to help teen battling cancer

The Yuma Catholic football team is starting their season opener paying it forward by donating all their game proceeds to help a local teen battling cancer.

On Saturday, August 18, the community is invited to join the Shamrocks for their first game of the season against San Manuel High School. The game will be dedicated to 15-year-old Nicole Laughlin who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Principal and head coach, Rhett Stallworth, said they want to support the family in any way they can and believed that this would be the best way to support them.

“We’re just doing things that can help the family. Sometimes people do car washes, BBQ’s but it does not generate the money that they need right now so I thought it would be best to donate the gate money from our game,” shared Stallworth.

Laughlin’s family has been driving her to Phoenix hospital for chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at Yuma Catholic High School located at 2100 W. 28th St.

Tickets will cost $5 for adults and $3 for students over 12.
