Virtual Military Service Academy Day scheduled for June 19
Arizona senators encourage students attending service academies to apply
WASHINGTON (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Senators Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) and state representatives host a virtual Service Academy Day to nominate four students to service academies.
Sen. Kelly's office says the virtual service will be on Saturday, June 19, at 10 a.m.
Each year, Members of Congress select the top students to be appointed to the following academies; U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Military Academy (West Point).
Senator Kelly said, "I am honored, as a Senator and graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, to nominate Arizona students for attendance at one of our service academies. "As a former Navy pilot, combat veteran, and retired NASA astronaut, it is my privilege to continue my service to our country representing Arizona in the United States Senate. Attending a service academy is an incredible opportunity and responsibility. It is the first step in a life of service to our country, and I wish all those pursuing their goals of attending one of our prestigious academies the best of luck.”
“Our dedicated Service Academy students make Arizona proud through their commitment to keeping America safe,” said Senator Sinema. “I encourage all Arizona students interested in attending U.S. Service Academies to apply.”
